The Spot is a Youth Centre aimed at people aged 12-24. It is led by young people for young people who are involved with all the decision making for the centre. We work to develop youth led events and encourage young people to be involved in running these events.
The Spot is located between Motordrome and the YMCA, in Queen Street. Two separate buildings make up the Youth Centre.
The Spot is now open during the holidays
Monday to Thursday 12 noon - 4.00pm
Hours from Term 1, 2013 - starting Monday 4th February
Monday 3.30pm - 6.30pm
Tuesday 3.30pm - 6.30pm
Wednesday 3.30pm - 6.30pm
Thursday 3.30pm - 7.00pm
Young people are welcome to come to play pool, do some dancing, spend time with friends, kick a ball around, do some artwork or use our wireless internet. At all times the centre is supervised by a youth worker to make sure it is safe and inclusive.
What's happening in the front building?
The front building is currently being developed into a recording studio. We are working with Warren Maxwell to ensure that this will be a quality studio for our up and coming singers and musicians. All equipment has been donated by New Zealand musicians.
