Wairarapa REAP Early Childhood

We offer a range of support to local early childhood organisations.

Rural Playgroups and Activities
Our staff Jude Mitchell and Shirley Jones support rural playgroups with help and advice on activities, curriculum and management – we are currently helping local rural playgroups achieve certification with the Ministry of Education.

We support all other early childhood education centres, including kindergartens, playcentres, kohanga reo and childcare centres.

SKIP (Strategies with Kids, Information for Parents)
We run and support parent education and work closely with SKIP (Strategies with Kids – Information for Parents), an initiative that supports families and whanau to guide their children’s behaviour in a positive way.

You can fill in a course request to get a parenting programme running in your area, or contact Tracy Graham who coordinates these parenting services.

Wairarapa Early Childhood Network (WECN)
Wairarapa REAP is currently heavily involved with helping to co-ordinate the Wairarapa Early Childhood Network. This network aims to bring together professionals from all early childhood education groups across the Wairarapa to enhance expertise and best practice information sharing and to increase professional development opportunities.

We also aim to facilitate linking opportunities with Ministry of Education staff to access appropriate support.

Families with young children can also contact us for information on preschool services in their area.
