Other REAPs
There are 13 REAPs in Aotearoa / New Zealand. The first REAP was set up in 1979 and the last in 1982. REAPs provide cradle-to-the grave educational resource to rural communities, implementing a lifelong learning approach. The overall purpose of REAPs is to provide support and assistance of a supplementary and complementary education nature for all sectors of a defined community, across early childhood, primary, secondary and continuing education, which will enhance, promote and provide lifelong learning opportunities, community development and personal development in a manner that is equitable, appropriate, effective and efficient.
Each REAP is a community-based flexible resource providing formal, informal and non-formal learning opportunities for the whole defined community.
