Early childhood centre moves to community ownership
Ko Te Aroha early childhood and education centre in Masterton is a community run centre, providing early childhood services for local whanau.
Established by the Whaiora Whanui Trust in February 2008, and with support from Wairarapa REAP, the purpose-built centre in Johnstone Street successfully completed its first year under the Whaiora umbrella of community-wide health, education and social services.
It is now operated independently – Wairarapa REAP continues to provide early childhood expertise and guidance for the governance group.
